BrainPOP for Educators is a support site for teachers who want to get the most out of BrainPOP. It offer teachers resources for:

Best Practices using BrainPOP:

  • Responding to the Letter: Taking the "Dear Tim and Moby" template, give students 2 minutes to answer the letter at the beginning of the movie. At the end of the movie, allow students to add or modify their reply.
  • Pausing Spots: Teachers can use the PausePoints Template to selects key places to pause the movie and allow students to discuss key points being made.
  • Print Screen: Use the print screen button on your keyboard to copy a key screen shot of a BrainPOP video. Paste the picture into Microsoft Office and print out a copy for your students notes (see copy below).
  • Using the Closed Caption Feature: can be used to help "visual students" with their comprehension and note taking.
  • Note Taking: Please view the BrainPOP Note taking video for note taking ideas.
  • Differentiating with BrainPOP Jr.:Please view this 3 minute video interview on how a 1st grade teacher differentiates learning with BrainPOP JR.
  • Students Made BrainPOPs: consider having your students work on making a BrainPOP movie as and end of unit activity.

The FYI: Section has supplemental information that changes somewhat, depending on the particular subject. Items include:
  • In Depth: Provides more detailed information that what is presented in the BrainPOP Video.
  • Did You Know?: Interesting tidbits of information relating to the topic at hand.
  • Way Back When: Provides a look back in time to see how the given topic was viewed back in history.
  • Myths: explores common misconceptions on a given topic.
  • Quotables: Can be used as a student topic of discussion: Teacher "What was this person thinking when they made this statement?".
  • Unsolved Mysteries: Offer an excellent resource for a lesson extension.
  • Famous Faces: Another resource for extending a lesson.
Activities: Provides an activity designed to develop reinforce understanding on a given topic. Answer Keys are made available to teachers by logging into the BrainPOP Educators site.
